A letter to students, families, teachers, staff, and the Clear Creek community from Superintendent Karen Quanbeck.
CCSD Educators & Families,
Recently a CCHS student told us how excited she is for Project Bike Tech to begin. She’s excited to learn about bike mechanics and bike industry careers. We chose Project Bike Tech (PBT) because it has had great success in Santa Cruz, CA and our neighbors in Frisco, CO. We chose PBT for its perfect fit with Clear Creek and our thriving outdoor industry and fantastic bike trails. We’re ready. We have a classroom and two instructors—Brian Inman, CCHS PE teacher, and Ben Shay, GOALs mentor and CCHS graduate.
PBT is just the beginning of our Homegrown Talent Initiative (HTI). It is these and other opportunities that are possible because of you, and we are grateful for your commitment, energy, and passion for our students.
That is why I am so excited to announce the creation of Clear Creek Schools Foundation. It supports academics and one of our district’s key priorities: Empowered Learners. The foundation supports PBT along with other academic pursuits such as robotics, literacy, and teacher grants.
Clear Creek Schools Foundation supports opportunities for every student in the district to engage in authentic, engaging learning experiences that will prepare them for a successful future. Some of our students are interested in careers in outdoor recreation, engineering, or veterinary medicine. Others are interested in hospitality or teaching. Whatever their interest, goals, or learning style, we want to provide them with authentic learning experiences, connected to our community.
The foundation comes during an especially exciting time for CCSD. It also comes at a challenging time, because we have funding needs for all of these incredible opportunities.
Please consider pledging your support to Clear Creek Schools Foundation
Current school funding does not allow for career-connected experiences, nor hands-on engaging learning opportunities, nor rich professional learning to support sustainable educator changes to pedagogy. State funding is insufficient. Clear Creek Booster Club has a distinct and important role in funding sports, clubs, and activities like after-prom and homecoming. 4A & 4B, the mill & bond passed in November 2018, supports capital projects and compensation to attract and retain staff.
Despite all of this amazing support, we have a gap in funding important academic programs. That is why we created the Clear Creek Schools Foundation.
Your pledge will help us make hands-on academic learning possible
Further, we plan to connect other local economic opportunities like ski tech, rafting, mining, and student internships in the community.
Should you be inspired to support this learning opportunity for students, through a donation, volunteering, or even if you’re not sure how, please complete this online pledge form.
Thank you for helping all kids succeed!
