Clear Creek Community,
CCSD is thrilled to share the news that our district has been named a recipient of Governor Polis’ Recovery, Innovation, and Student Equity (RISE) grant! This grant is designed to support innovation and address challenges in education as a result of COVID. This is an exciting moment for our students, educators, and families, as we look ahead to opportunities to redesign how we do school, together.
During the last nine months, we have learned so much as a result of the challenges we’ve faced: connections to community and each other matter; students need voice and choice; engaging, experiential learning is better than compliance driven learning. We also now know that you cannot take instruction designed for in person learning and simply replicate it in a virtual environment. Remote learning requires the right technology and time to redesign learning experiences; it is complex!
Over the next year, thanks to the RISE grant, we will have the opportunity to further build out classroom technology so we are well-positioned and prepared for remote learning, and can expand course offerings for students through distance learning. We will partner with Outward Bound, Red Rocks Community College, Colorado Mountain College, and local organizations including The Mighty Argo, and Mountain Youth Network, to increase experiential learning for Students.
Most exciting is the opportunity to bring students to the table to help us redesign how we “do school”, thinking about what we’ve learned during pandemic learning.
We are incredibly grateful for the partnership and support of the Colorado Education Initiative (CEI), in the pursuit of this grant. CEI along with Colorado Succeeds brings talent and expertise to Clear Creek School District as our major supporters for the Homegrown Talent Initiative. Future opportunities now made possible as a result of receiving the RISE grant are an extension of the planning, dreaming, and implementation of our Homegrown Talent Initiative work with both CEI and Colorado Succeeds.
