The Metzler Family Education Fund Matching Donations
Thanks to the generous support of the Metzler Family Education Fund, when you make a donation to Clear Creek Schools Foundation the fund will match it. Because of this incredible gift, the Foundation can help support the school district’s work in enhancing student education experiences, especially for those furthest from opportunity.
Bob Metzler
Robert (Bob) Metzler became the Clear Creek School District Superintendent in 1964. He was an education innovator and developed new concepts for lifelong learning. Bob's visionary leadership continues to positively impact learning in Clear Creek. He placed a high value on innovative classroom techniques, meaningful collaboration, and ensuring all students have access. His efforts transformed the educational system in Clear Creek, bringing joy and passion to learning. Bob's "Tower of Learning", the former High School, is currently being transformed into Idaho Springs new elementary school.
Bob and his sister Rosemary developed a passion for reading and teaching from their mother Mary, who was one of the few women of her time to attain a high school education. Bob's friends remember him as a true gentleman and a renaissance man, accomplished painter, a gifted pianist, fisherman, cross country skier and a gourmet cook. His passion for learning had a profound effect on the lives of all those he touched. Until his passing Bob, "Knight of the Castle," resided in his historic home known locally as "Castle Eyrie."
